Free local SEO audit, against the businesses that outrank you

What it does: enter the services customers search for (up to 3) and your city. Pack Leader runs those searches on Google Maps, finds the 3 businesses that rank highest, and puts your Google profile and website side by side with theirs. Every difference becomes a fix, and the top fixes become a short action plan ordered by impact.

Most audit tools grade your profile against a checklist. This one grades you against the businesses that actually beat you, on your own searches, today.

Sample gap report: gap score out of 100, your average Maps rank, rating and reviews, and the same numbers for 3 competitors A sample from Tallgrass Peak Roofing, a fictional business in our demo account. Every business name and number in it is made up.

What the audit compares

Area What we look at
Maps rank Your position for each search, next to each competitor
Reviews Review count and rating, against the competitors' average
Categories Your primary category against theirs
Photos How many photos each profile shows
Website basics Title tags with your city and service, LocalBusiness schema, a click-to-call phone link
Location and service pages Whether each site has pages for the areas and services it targets

A row is marked as a gap when you are behind the competitors' average (numbers) or the majority (yes or no items). If a competitor's website cannot be reached, it is left out of that row rather than counted as zero.

How to read the result

  1. Start with the rank matrix. It shows where you stand for each search. If you rank well for one service and not another, the gaps for the weak search matter most.
  2. Read the action plan, not every row. The plan picks the fixes with the most impact for the least work.
  3. Separate what you control. Reviews, categories, photos and pages are yours to change. Distance is not.
  4. Re-run after you fix. Each audit is saved in your workspace history, so you can compare.

What comes after the audit

The audit is the start of the workspace. From the same report you can:

  • run a local grid to see your rank street by street (10 credits for a 5×5 grid),
  • check citation gaps across 35 directories (120 credits),
  • check whether AI assistants recommend you (80 credits).

See all plans on the pricing page, or read the local citations guide and who builds Pack Leader.

Frequently asked questions

Is the audit really free?

Yes. The free plan gives you 200 credits every month and an audit costs 5. You sign in with Google so we can save the report in your workspace. No card.

Which competitors does it compare me with?

The businesses that rank highest on Google Maps across the searches you enter. You can also name one competitor you want included.

Why is my rank different from what I see on my phone?

Maps results depend on where the searcher stands. The audit searches your service plus your city, a view of the city as a whole. For street-by-street ranks, use the local grid.

Will fixing every gap get me to number one?

No one can promise that. Distance from the searcher is a strong factor nobody can change. Closing the gaps you control is what moves rankings over time.
