How to run and read an AI visibility check
Short answer: open AI visibility in your workspace and click Check AI visibility. Pack Leader asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google AI Mode 3 questions your customers ask, built from your keywords and city. It shows how many of the 12 answers name you, which competitors they name instead, and which websites the assistants cite. A check uses 80 credits and takes about 1 minute. Your fastest wins are the cited sites that name your competitors and not you.
For what AI visibility is and why it matters for local businesses, see the AI visibility checker page. This article shows how to run the check and read it.
Run the check
- In your workspace, open AI visibility in the sidebar.
- Click Check AI visibility, then confirm. Pack Leader shows the credits it will use.
- Wait about a minute. The check runs in the background.
The questions use your first 3 keywords from Brand identity and your city, for example: "What are the best roofing contractor companies in Austin, TX? Recommend a few and say why." Pack Leader tracks the competitors in your Brand identity, up to 5.
To run it again later, click Check again. Each check uses credits.

The summary and the answers by assistant for a sample business.
The four numbers:
- AI named you: in how many answers you are named, out of the answers received.
- Named you first: how often you are the first business named.
- Top competitor: how many answers name your most recommended competitor.
- Sources without you: cited sites you could get on, such as directories and best-of lists, where you are not listed.
Answers by assistant. One row per assistant, one column per question:
- #1, #2...: you are named, and in which position. #1 means named first.
- Not named: the answer named other businesses. The cell shows who was named first.
- No answer: the assistant did not answer that time.

Who AI recommends. You and each tracked competitor, with how many answers named them and how often first. Also recommended lists businesses the assistants named that are not on your competitor list. Add them in Brand identity to track them.
What to do next. Three actions based on the answers.
The sources AI assistants read
The cited sources, most cited first.
This list shows the websites the assistants cited, most cited first. For each one you see its type (directory, best-of list, news, review site, competitor website and more), how many answers cited it and which assistants, and which of your competitors it names.
The status shows whether you are on it:
- You are on it: found in your citation scan or on the page itself.
- Not on it: you are missing. These are your fastest wins.
- Not checked: Pack Leader could not confirm either way.
On a site where you are missing, Get listed or Get on this page starts a done-for-you request.
What to do next
- Get listed on the Not on it directories first. Run a citation gap check to see all your missing directories at once.
- Make your name, address and phone the same everywhere. AI assistants trust businesses whose details match across the main directories. The NAP check finds the ones that differ.
- Close the gaps in your gap report, especially reviews and service pages.
- Check again in a few weeks and compare.
